DISPENSARY SERVICE: IMPORTANT UPDATE
ALL PHONE CALLS FOR DISPENSARY ARE BEING ANSWERED BY THE RECEPTION TEAM. THE OPTION TO SPEAK TO DISPENSARY HAS BEEN REMOVED.
The Dispensary Service at Bottisham Medical Practice is currently working with a reduced capacity. We have had a small group of volunteers working with the practice over the last couple of months, delivering medication to the door which has helped ease the pressures. Since the easing of lockdown we have seen volunteers going back to work along with patients not always being in to receive the medication due to them going back to work and, unfortunately, it has not been working as efficiently as we would have liked over the last 3 weeks.
With this in mind, and the fact we are now seeing repeat requests reduce to what it was before the lockdown, we have re-opened the dispensary for the collection of all medications. Everything from Monday 15th June will need to be collected from the dispensary. The Dispnesary will be open from 8.30am until 12pm and then 2pm until 6pm. When you come to collect your medication from the Dispensary, please ensure you are wearing a face covering before entering the practice.
The only exception to this is those patients who are shielding. Over the past weeks you will have received details of your community volunteers through your letterbox. (Alternatively, log on to your local Parish Council website where you will be able to find details.) Please phone the person in your area who will be happy to help arrange pick up of your medication. If you are struggling to arrange for someone to pick up your medication, or if there is nobody in your area, please contact the reception team at Bottisham Medical Practice who will help arrange a delivery.
Due to reduced staffing numbers, please bear with us as there may be a longer wait at the dispensary hatch. We ask that only one person at a time comes into dispensary, otherwise please queue outside until the dispensary area has been vacated. Please wear a facemask/scarf upon entry of the surgery.
We are still working to a 5 working day turnaround, and we ask that you do not attend the practice to collect early as this increases the pressure on the dispensary team along with unnecessary footfall in the practice.
If you have spoken to a GP and they have issued an acute prescription for collection, please allow at least 3 hours for this to be received by dispensary and dispensed. Again, this will help reduce footfall ensuring patients only attend once.
Until staff levels return to normal you will not be able to contact dispensary direct by phone, but will be directed to our enquiries line (Option 4). A message will be taken and a call returned at a quieter time of day and when it is safe to enter the dispensary, adhering to social distancing.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our patients for your support during this time, and all of the volunteers who have done an amazing job of providing the delivery service.
